Gujarat Records Over 9,000 Incidents of GST Evasion in the Past Four Years
Gujarat, renowned as a business hub, ranks among the states with a substantial number of Goods and Services Tax (GST) evasion cases.
Being a substantial contributor to the GST collection in the country, Gujarat holds the second position, reporting 9,684 instances of GST evasion in the past four years. Maharashtra takes the lead in GST tax evasions with 9,840 cases recorded during the same period.
In a recent written response to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary revealed that central tax officers have registered a total of 14,597 cases of GST evasion during the period from April to December 2023.
Among these cases, Gujarat recorded 2,589 instances, Maharashtra witnessed 2,716 cases, Haryana had 1,123 cases, and West Bengal reported 1,098 cases of GST evasion.’
