Scrutiny on Chandigarh Immigration Firms for Alleged GST Evasion
Recently, six teams from the GST Department conducted raids on several immigration firms in the city, suspecting potential tax evasion.
Led by Pardeep Rawal, ETO, the teams, guided by Jagdeep Sehgal, AETC, meticulously scrutinized GST returns, business models, historical filings, and portal-based data. Additionally, on-site visits were conducted to gather crucial information during this process.
As per the UT Administration, the inspections yielded substantial evidence, encompassing enrollment forms, rent agreements, pen drives, mobile phones, computers, loose documents, dairy notebooks, and registers. Prominent firms covered in this operation included Canvisa Worldwide, CV Immigration, Akal Overseas Consultancy, and Future Developers in Sector 34.
This initiative follows last week’s inspection of Dhagey Creations in Sector 38, revealing that the taxpayer was operating under the composition scheme instead of regular GST registration. The department’s actions are geared towards closing GST revenue loopholes and ensuring businesses adhere to tax regulations, as per the authorities.
